What is the Travelpigg website about?

Travelpigg is a news website that provides you with the most popular articles and information about travel, gathered from around the web, then submitted and voted on by you.

Travelpigg is empowering people to decide on the most important travel information on the web. People all over the world can contribute and enjoy the diverse mix of travel news and content.

How do I submit a story to the Travelpigg website?

When you have found an article or story that you would like to share on the Travelpigg website you can do 1 of 2 things.

1. When you are on a website and you have found a page or article you would like to share on Travelpigg, copy the link in the address bar in your browser. Visit the submit page (http://www.travelpigg.com/submit) on the Travelpigg website and paste the link into the URL field at the top of the page. Now you'll be able to share the news and information you have found on Travelpigg.

2. Visit the Tools page on the Travelpigg website and follow the steps to drag the bookmarklet button into bookmarks toolbar in your web browser. Once you've found some content on the web such as a blog post or article that you would like to share on Travelpigg, simply click the boomarklet button that is in your boomarks toolbar in your web browser. By clicking the bookmarlet, it will automatically take you to the submit page with the link and title fields already filled out. Too easy.....

Can I edit a story that I have already submitted?

We don't like to encourage editing of stories after they have been submitted, but if you find that you have made a mistake when submitting a story, such as the URL is incorrect or maybe the information needs to be amended, feel free to edit the story as required.

To edit an existing story, simply locate that story on the Travelpigg website and click on it to view it. At the top of the page the story is on, you will notice 2 tabs. The first tab says "View" and the second tab says "Edit". Simply click on the "Edit" tab and you will be able to modify the story as you require.

What is the difference between the 'Published' and 'Upcoming' sections on the homepage?

Once a story has been submitted to Travelpigg, it is categorized as an 'Upcoming' story as it only has very few votes. Once a story has recieved a certain amount of votes, it then becomes classified as a 'Published' story and is moved into the aforementioned section on the front page of the website. The more votes a story gets, the better the ranking and positioning it gets on the front page.

How do I vote on a story?

If you come across a story that you've found interesting, useful or maybe you've just taken a particular liking to it, you can give that story a vote. This will give the story a higher ranking and promote it to the front page of the website, allowing more users on the Travelpigg website to see it. The vote button is located to the left of the headline on each story. And remember, you can only vote ONCE on a story.

How many times can I vote on a story?

You can only vote ONCE on a story. If you're trying to vote on a story and it appears that the vote button is not working, it's most likely that you have already voted on that particular story and therefore, the vote button has become inactive as you have already cast your vote.
The one vote, per story, per user policy ensures the integrity and rules of or voting system are maintained and remain fair to all users. This rule is in place to stop users from falsifying and inflating the vote count for a particular story. Please refer to our terms of use for more guidelines on using the Travelpigg website.

How do I add a Travelpigg vote button to my personal blog or website?

Visit the Tools page on the Travelpigg website and follow the steps to add a Travelpigg vote button to your website or blog. The steps to add the vote button to your website are quite easy but it will require basic knowledge of HTML to add the code for the button to your website or blog.

We currently have 3 types of Travelpigg external vote buttons available:

Simple Vote Button: This button allows users to submit and vote on articles on your website. It does not display the vote count and users will be transferred to the Travelpigg website in order to place their vote on the article.

Dynamic Vote Button: This button displays the vote count for your article from the Travelpigg website. It also allows users to vote on your article without leaving your website.

Dynamic Vote Button (For Wordpress):This button is specifically for the Wordpress CMS. It displays the vote count for your article from the Travelpigg website. It also allows users to vote on your article without leaving your website.

Adding a Travelpigg button to your website will allow for easy voting and quick submission of your post or article to the Travelpigg website by other users. This is a great way to encourage traffic and promote the content on your website.

How do I update my Travelpigg account information?

If you need to change your Travelpigg account information, password or any other personal details, simply login to the Travelpigg website and click on the 'My Account' button that is located in the right-hand side column underneath the purple email subscription box.

You can add additional, optional information to your account such as your your name, links to your Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and other personal or social websites that you might be a member of. Simply login to your profile, click on the 'Edit' tab at the top of the page and you'll notice 3 menu items - 'Account', 'Extra Information' and 'Personal Informaton'. Click into either the 'Extra Information' or 'Personal Informaton' tabs to add any information you feel is appropriate.

What is 'karma' on the Travelpigg website and what does it mean?

For voting, submitting and sharing stories and content on the Travelpigg website, you are given points which add to your 'karma' rating on the website. The more 'karma' points that you acquire by participating and interacting with the Travelpigg website, the higher you will get in the Travelpigg karma rankings. Keep your eyes peeled as Travelpigg has some cool giveaways in the pipeline for users with high krama rankings on the website.

How do I subscribe to the Travelpigg newsletter?

Simply locate the purple subscribe box in the right-hand side column on the website and hit the 'click here to subscribe' button. You will now be taken to a page where you fill out your name, country and verify your email address.

Once this is filled out, hit submit and your done! You will then recieve an email asking you to confirm your email subscription with Travelpigg. Click the link in the email to activate your Travelpigg email subscription and now all you have to do is sit back, relax and Travelpigg will deliver the latest news on all things travel straight to your inbox.

Can I have more the one user account on the Travelpigg website?

Most definitely not! To ensure the integrity and rules of or voting system are maintained and remain fair to all users, the Travelpigg user account policy is one account per person.
